E o último lançamento de Mehdi foi a mixtape de verão que fez para a revista francesa Tsugi, gravada em agosto no Paris Social Club. O título vem de sua ascendência tunisiana. E como ele mesmo explica:

“It’s that usual mixtape momentum that you guys know I like: starting quite slow, creeping up to a couple of current favourite hits, and finishing with a classic throwback and a Hip-Hop tune. 2011 Time Capsule business”.

Duck Sauce, você sabe, é o A-Trak e o Armand Van Helden tocando a maior zona.

Pra começar o ano chacoalhando o esqueleto segue a mixtape que o Holy Ghost lançou no fim do ano passado composto boa parte por remixes deles pra bambas como Cut Copy, Phoenix, Van She e MGMT, que eu peguei lá no site da Funhell. Coisa fina, sente o nível:

É a vez do canadense A-Trak meter a mão do segundo single do disco novo do Yeah Yeah Yeahs. “Heads Will Roll” já foi remixada por gente tão diferente quanto Passion Pit e James Iha, mas aqui ganha um tratamento quase minimalista graças a uma repetitiva e marcial martelada sintética. Em cima dela, Karen O desliza seu vocal de diva indie como se fosse uma crooner disco, coisa fina.

Não tente entender o som do alter ego do francês Simon DeLacroix, o Toxic Avenger. Ao mesmo tempo em que ele flerta com o maximalismo contemporâneo da gravadora Ed Banger, ele também dá tchauzinhos para o poperô farofa da virada dos anos 80 pros 90, beijinhos pro ataque sônico que era a base da era de ouro do hip hop e piscadelas para a house music clássica. Até há algum sentido nessa árvore genealógica de relações quase bastardas, mas é melhor deixar o ruído ir martelando o cérebro por dentro. E esqueça a pista de dança – o bate-escada proposto aqui serve para todas as ocasiões: acordar, dirigir, caminhar, correr. E isso num set com o A-Trak, “Drop the Pressure”, Late of the Pier, o tema dos Caça-Fantasmas remixado pelo Don Rimini e Yuksek. Fre-fre-frenético!
