Todo mundo sabe que mashup com hip hop é meio que o bê-a-bá do gênero – e se o rapper do vocal for o Jay Z (o primeiro a entrar pesado nessa brincadeira, graças ao Dangermouse e seu Grey Album), a faixa fica ainda mais didática. Mas o canadense Ha! Yes misturou a já clássica “Encore” com o remix que os Twelves fizeram pros Black Kids e o resultado ficou longe do trivial.

A dupla carioca lança sua terceira mixtape (depois dos 30 Minutes of Twelves e do Episode II) e segue nos mesmos trilhos que a consagrou: o tom geral fica entre o synthpop e a nu-disco, mas com ouvidos atentos aos hits conhecidos pela maioria das pessoas. Assim, o set desce macio e suave, perfeito para esse frio súbito desse início de primavera. Vi lá no Bloody Pop.

Não é senso de composição que falta aos Black Kids. O grupo americano tem noção do que faz uma música tornar-se memorável e realmente trabalha nesse sentido – seu disco de estréia, Partie Traumatic, é um esforço louvável de se fazer música pop pura e simples no século 21 e seu vocalista Reggie Youngblood tenha a voz com mais personalidade entre as bandas que não têm mais de dois discos de carreira. Mas a banda ainda não chegou lá – “I’ve Underestimated My Charm (Again)” e “Hurricane Jane” tem refrões irresistíveis, mas instrumentação frouxa, preguiçosa, desleixada – o que pra muitos é estilo. Mas a dupla carioca Twelves mata a charada ao costurar as pontas que sobram, subir um pouquinho o tempo e o pitch da faixa original e finalmente envernizá-la com um brilho oitentista, que, se sozinho reflete e brilha, sobre os Black Kids dá a textura ideal para que a banda aspire para além da própria vizinhança. Questão de postura – tem gente que prefere andar encurvado, tem gente que prefere esticar os ombros e estufar o peito. Os Twelves fazem os Black Kids andarem nos trilhos.

Recém-paulistanizado, o catarina Tiago Agostini ouviu o questionamento acima de uma conterrânea e compilou faixas onipresentes nas pistas de dança de indie rock de São Paulo em dois arquivos. Algumas (como ele mesmo diz “‘Surfin’ Bird’ com os Raimundos”, por exemplo) passam longe do estereótipo, mas no geral a coletânea dá uma boa idéia de como dançam os indies – e, independente de pista, ficou bem boa.
