Lady Gaga é o novo David Bowie?

É claro que não, mas a comparação é bem mais justa do que a comum e preguiçosa afirmação que, com a morte de Michael Jackson, a menina seria a nova rainha do pop. Piada. Lady Gaga deve mais ao Bowie pelo impacto visual e esquisitice consciente do que o apelo pop total que exalava do saudoso Michael. A comparação com Bowie vem pelas mãos do mashupeiro Terry Urban, que topa fazer a comparação indo além dos próprios remixes - seu EP de tributo às duas figuras, Lady Stardust, abre com frases retiradas de programas de rádio e TV que falam do impacto dos dois em sua época, comparando o personagem Lady Gaga a Ziggy Stardust. Mas enquanto Bowie é um compositor de primeira linha, o melhor crooner de sua geração (Freddie Mercury? Bryan Ferry? Para com isso…) e um classudo vampiro de personalidades artísticas (como Caetano, no Brasil), Lady Gaga é uma voz fácil de ser lembrada, refrões repetitivos e muita promoção de gravadora (pra quem acha que elas não têm mais força…). Sua “Poker Face” (um mashup de base Eurhythmics com o refrão genérico de Cher) vem ganhando notoriedade basicamente devido à repetição insistente, mais do que sua qualidade musical propriamente dita. O EP não é grande coisa, o melhor mashup cruz “Just Dance” com “Let’s Dance”, que eu linko aí embaixo.

Introdução a Jacques Brel

O Lucas fez uma compilação reunindo vários artistas celebrando as composições de Jacques Brel, um dos poucos belgas de renome internacional. A lista de fãs do sujeito inclui nomes como Nina Simone, Beirut, Divine Comedy, Sinatra, Kurt Cobain e, claro, David Bowie. Só faltou bolar um nome e uma capinha personalizada - de resto, a coletânea é ótima. O aperitivo que deixo aí embaixo é com a Nara Leão.

“Eis que, em algum momento, falando sobre festas, uma amiga me pede que tipo de música toca nas baladas que eu vou em São Paulo”

Recém-paulistanizado, o catarina Tiago Agostini ouviu o questionamento acima de uma conterrânea e compilou faixas onipresentes nas pistas de dança de indie rock de São Paulo em dois arquivos. Algumas (como ele mesmo diz “‘Surfin’ Bird’ com os Raimundos”, por exemplo) passam longe do estereótipo, mas no geral a coletânea dá uma boa idéia de como dançam os indies - e, independente de pista, ficou bem boa.

Don’t Touch My Mixtape

Hoje eu sou o protagonista da Miguxtape da Dani, que vem pedindo pra amigos gravarem compilações pra ela pendurar no blog. Na descrição, ela me encheu de adjetivos que não condizem à minha pessoa (como “lenda”, “lactovegetariano” ou “cronológico”), mas isso é só a Dani tirando onda comigo.
