Falando no JB, o grande bastião da cena mashup brasileira, agora exilado na gringa, abriu um blog novo com a inglória tarefa de fazer 365 mashups durante o ano inteiro. Muito gênio. E além do mashup com a Carolinie, ele postou essa pérola em que o Gil mistura-se com o Jay-Z.

Em homenagem aos Beastie Boys

Outra dica do Mutlei, desta vez sobre duas homenagens inusitadas aos Beastie Boys que aconteceram no festival All Points West, que rolou no fim de semana passado, em Nova Jérsei, nos EUA. Os Beasties estavam escalados para tocar no festival, mas devido ao recém descoberto tumor de Adam Yauch, o trio suspendeu suas atividades por enquanto. A ausência da banda rendeu duas homenagens durante o evento. A primeira delas veio do Jay-Z, que encerrou a primeira noite do festival (que ainda contou com Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Fleet Foxes, MSTRKRFT, Vampire Weekend, National, Q-Tip e Pharcyde). Z entrou com “No Sleep Till Brooklin”.

Mas bizarro foi ouvir “Fight for Your Right (to Party)” no pianinho Ron Howard do Chris Martin, do Coldplay (que encerrou a terceira noite do festival, que ainda teve Echo & the Bunnymen, MGMT, We Are Scientists, Mogwai, Black Keys e Lykke Li):

E conversando com o Tomate e o Marquinhos sobre esse assunto, eis que o primeiro saca da manga o sagaz Jay Z at Studio One, em que o rapper invade o mitológico estúdio jamaicano e se esbalda em cima de instrumentais temperados e calibrados. Tá vendo? É só mudar um pouquinho que a coisa já muda um tanto de figura…

Falando em mashup com Radiohead, o hypômetro dessa semana acusou um Grey Album pra banda do Thom Yorke. Um produtor de alcunha Minty Fresh Beats resolveu fundir os vocais de Jay Z em cima do versões instrumentais de músicas como “Paranoid Android”, “National Anthem”, “Optimistic” e a citada abaixo “Lucifer’s Jigsaw”. Batizou o disco de Jaydiohead e agora ta aí colhendo os louros da fama fugaz na dita blogosfera. Ficou legal, mas, vocês sabem que mashup com hip hop é o mais fácil de fazer (tanto que foram os primeiros) e que um mashup de Beatles com Jay Z (o tal álbum cinza) foi quem colocou o Dangermouse (1/2 Gnarls Barkley, pra quem não lembra) na paisagem pop atual. O lance é que mashup abre tantas possibilidades e neguinho continua insistindo em uma mesma fórmula. Muda ao menos o MC, né… Porque só esse ano outro cara - o Cookin Soul, que também fez uma mixtape em homenagem à passagem do Isaac Hayes -, já tinha feito isso, mashupando Jay Z com Oasis - mas pelo menos aí tinha uma desculpa boa devido ao incidente em Glastonbury

Obama é como a Mallu Magalhães, o fenômeno midiático é mais interessante que o produto em si. Sempre que eu vejo ele sorrindo, lembro do Kennedy - e isso não é um bom sinal (a não ser que tu seja desses viúvos da bossa nova, que acham que “naquele tempo é que era bom”).
