O Thiago escreveu sobre o Southland Tales (é, eu sei, tou devendo) e traçou uma teoria bem interessante sobre o clipe de “All These Things That I’ve Done” do Killers com o Justin Timberlake, que acontece no meio do filme do diretor de Donnie Darko.
Pra mim é uma paródia do vídeo de Candyman da Christina Aguilera. Esse vídeo incomodou muita gente, e francamente me dá nos nervos toda vez que eu vejo.
Os Estados Unidos invadiram o Iraque, foram pra guerra. Christina Aguilera, além de ser uma tremenda biscate profissional, é defensora de valores conservadores. Ela casou virgem (ou pelo menos diz que casou) e esse disco todo de Candyman é uma apologia à monogamia e seu (esquisito) marido. Aguilera é um bicho parecido com a nossa ministra Mara Cafagna aqui ou a comentarista Ann Ciulter nos States. Em pleno clima de guerra no país, Christina Aguilera fez um vídeo com visual de propaganda (consulte a Wikipedia se você esqueceu o que é propaganda) dos anos 50 (as bissas chamaram de visual pin-up e adoraram, mas é propaganda) onde dança cercada de soldados. Southland Tales é em grande parte um filme anti-guerra e então botaram o Justin, vestido de soldado, cercado de bailarinas vestidas de Aguilera. Viraram o clipe de Candyman do avesso pra comunicar a mensagem oposta. Acho!

E, sim, ainda vou falar do Southland Tales. E do João Gilberto. É só esperar.
E por falar em fim de mundo, finalmente vi o segundo filme de Richard Kelly - o cara do Donnie Darko -, Southland Tales (de onde tirei a aspa do post anterior). Fo-da-ço. Perfeito pra usar adjetivos que adoro - futurismo quadrinhista ficção científica distópica no talo, um mashup de Robocop, Akira, Blade Runner e Tropas Estelares com um humor de Frank Miller, um elenco que parece ter saído do Saturday Night Live (The Rock, o Stiffler do American Pie, a Buffy fazendo uma Britney politizada e Justin Timberlake), além de misturar pornografia, geopolítica americana pós-petróleo, vigilância estatal, terrorismo caseiro, conspirações neomarxistas, Bíblia e um megazepelim. Já já falo mais dele, mas se liga num trechinho aí em cima, pode ser visto sem que atrapalhe a história - você só precisa saber que o personagem do Justin é um soldado, o que dá toda uma nova dimensão à música do Killers. E por falar nisso, a trilha é indie até dizer chega: Muse, Blur, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (”protagonistas” de uma cena memorável), tem até Elbow, porra - tudo escolhido pelo Moby.
