Recém-paulistanizado, o catarina Tiago Agostini ouviu o questionamento acima de uma conterrânea e compilou faixas onipresentes nas pistas de dança de indie rock de São Paulo em dois arquivos. Algumas (como ele mesmo diz “‘Surfin’ Bird’ com os Raimundos”, por exemplo) passam longe do estereótipo, mas no geral a coletânea dá uma boa idéia de como dançam os indies – e, independente de pista, ficou bem boa.

On the Run 39: Disc-O-Nexo @ Ipanema FM

Como sábado que vem não vou estar aqui, deixo dois sets para animar a virada do ano. E os dois ficam por conta da dupla Chaves e Landosystem, que tocam a festa Disc-O-Nexo em Porto Alegre, que apresentaram ambas mixagens ao vivo na clássica rádio Ipanema. O primeiro foi ao ar no dia 23 de outubro e o segundo dia 6 de novembro. Dá pra ter uma idéia do nível da discotecagem pela seleção das músicas que estão aí embaixo – mas a passagem de uma música para a outra torna tudo mais tenso, elétrico e preciso. Bem foda.

Os 50 melhores discos de 2008: 35) Killers – Day & Age

“Meu respeito à graça e à virtude/ Minhas condolências ao bem/ Mande lembranças à alma e ao romance/ Eles sempre fizeram o melhor que puderam/ E adeus devoção/ Você me ensinou tudo que sei/ Despeça-se/ Deseje-me bem/ Você tem que me deixar”. Tá ali, no meio de “Human”, a declaração de que os Killers são outra banda. Day & Age é praticamente um renascimento do grupo de Las Vegas, que deixa para trás a pompa e a circunstância do rock de arena para abraçar o pop radiofônico e a pista de dança (características já presentes na discografia da banda, mas levadas ao extremo). O olhar, no entanto, ainda é majestático e grandiloqüente, embora, como o próprio Brandon Flowers sublinha, toda fleuma e sensação de auto-importância tenha saído de cena. Agora o Killers é uma banda que contempla a vida mundana, olhando tudo de cima para baixo não mais com empáfia, mas com pena, como o alienígena de “Spaceman”. Alinhando-se a um cânone que é mais chegado à canção pop e ao piano do que ao refrão e o riff, de artistas como David Bowie, Pet Shop Boys, Spandau Ballet, Tears for Fears, Soft Cell, George Michael, Human League e Pulp. Ao trocar a estética do Queen pela do Duran Duran, o Killers fez seu disco mais consistente e divertido, ainda que melancólico e pensativo.
