E por falar na revista Q, vocês viram o tributo que ela fez ao Achtung Baby? Felizmente o disco de 91 vem sendo cada vez mais celebrado como sendo o grande disco do U2, deixando clássicos anteriores como Joshua Tree ou Unforgettable Fire na poeira messiânica do passado. No disco-tributo, que acompanha a edição de dezembro, a revista reuniu nomes como Patti Smith, Jack White, Killers, Depeche Mode, Garbage e Nine Inch Nails, entre outros, para celebrar o primeiro disco europeu do grupo irlandês. O resultado, infelizmente, paira entre a pasmaceira e o horror. Os vídeos (e meus comentários) para cada uma das músicas do tributo seguem abaixo, como eu vi no Scream & Yell.

Ele aproveitou a data pra lançar um novo disco do Nine Inch Nails da noite pro dia, mandando uma curta mensagem no Twitter para, logo depois, lançar o hotsite http://www.nin.com/strobelight/ que, no final das contas, era uma piada. Mas não uma brincadeira qualquer: Reznor se esmerou no escárnio ao criar uma piada elaborada, com começo, meio e fim. Aproveitou para dar cacetada em um monte de gente. Alguns citados pelo nome, outros, não – Chris Cornell, cujo novo álbum produzido por Timbaland fez com que Reznor inaugurasse o conceito de vergonha alheia na língua inglesa (“You know that feeling you get when somebody embarrasses themselves so badly YOU feel uncomfortable? Heard Chris Cornell’s record? Jesus.“), provavelmente foi a principal motivação da brincadeira, não é mencionado (e precisa?), Kanye West também não, mas seus óculos de paulistano farofeiro na praia estão na capa do “disco”… Ainda sobrou sopapo pro Radiohead, pra Microsoft, pro Google, enfim, segue abaixo o comunicado de anúncio do novo disco e o repertório (grifei as mais esdrúxulas):

Na boa, não sabia que o Trent Reznor podia ser engraçado. Se eu fosse ele, pedia pra um estagiário criar esse disco da forma mais tosca possível, ampliando ainda mais a brincadeira (mas confesso que eu queria ouvir o Justin numa música com a base do Nine Inch Nails ou a colaboração do cara do Ministry com a Fergie). E dava um jeito de colocar um pouco desse humor em sua carreira, o cara parece que vive gravando a própria sessão de terapia…
* E o páreo do primeiro de abril foi duro mesmo, com todo mundo tentando criar sua piadinha ou brincadeirinha engraçadinha. Outros concorrentes foram a Bjork cantando com o Led Zeppelin, a gravidez da Flávia Durante e o Guardian abandonando o papel rumo ao Twitter. Outra boa foi a do Piangers, que elegeu a musa do dia de hoje.

A banda de Trent Reznor é um dos melhores exemplos do ditado “te admiro mas não te invejo”. Gosto do trabalho dos caras, percebo a qualidade, torço a favor, mas não peça pra gostar. Às vezes ele acerta uns hits precisos (como essa “Only” que eu acabei de linkar ou “Hurt”), mas o conjunto da obra tem muito elemento gótico, técnico e ficção científica de araque pro meu gosto. Mas ele rende uns mashups fodaços, como esses…

Boa foto-resposta, mas antes que você comece a achar que é o fim do mundo um nerd do naipe do Trent Reznor usar Windows, saiba que a famosa tela azul da morte do Windows aparecendo no fundo do show dos caras é fake, feita justamente pra causar essa nóia no público. Reznor, como todo mundo que se leva muito a sério, é famoso usuário da Apple – já lançou música pra ser remixada em concurso do GarageBand (um dos softwares de estúdio da marca) e o clipe de “Only” é praticamente um comercial da empresa.
Falando nisso, semana que vem começa o semestre dos festivais, com o Eletronika em Belo Horizonte, com Hurtmold (e, DIZEM, Marcelo Camelo), Twelves, Fernanda Takai e a menina do Pizzicato Five, Macaco Bong, Instituto fase Racional, Pex BaA, Takara, Vanguart, Curumin, Guizado, Monno e Mallu, entre outros, em Belo Horizonte. Depois tem o Melvins, Plasticines e Hives no tal do Orloff 5 e, mais tarde, tem o Skol Beats (que inspira a grande pergunta: o que fazer entre o Justice e o Digitalism?). Depois tem a Invasão Sueca com Shout Out Louds e Peter Bjorn & John (os ingressos pro show de São Paulo já estão à venda, viu), ao mesmo tempo em que rola o Coquetel Molotov em Recife. Junta isso com um Timfa já com Sonny Rollins, Klaxons, Kanye West, o National e o MGMT, entre outros, um Planeta Terra que além de Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs, Jesus & Mary Chain, Animal Collective, Spoon, Foals ainda periga ter uns nomes que o Lucio andou cantando alto (Sonic Youth tocando Daydream Nation? Breeders? Kylie?) e possíveis shows do R.E.M., do Mudhoney e do Nine Inch Nails na paralela. Fora um Goiânia Noise que vai ter Black Lips, Vaselines, Black Mountain e Circle Jerks.
