Tava lendo esse artigo no NME sobre o papel de um produtor num disco de uma banda (ou melhor, sobre a importância que um artista deve dar a esta escolha) e me deparei com algo que nunca imaginei ouvir: a demo de “Live Forever”, do Oasis. Nunca gostei do Oasis de verdade, o primeiro disco deles é bem bom, mas o resto, pra mim, é regurgitação de uma fórmula besta – fora que o vocal de Liam Gallagher (o timbre do Ozzy e o sotaque do Johnny Rotten) nunca me desceu. Tudo bem, o Noel é bom guitarrista e sabe compor, mas a banda começa a patinar a partir de “Wonderwall” – e tudo que ouvimos até hoje é só conseqüência dessa derrapada original. Aí cada disco do Oasis é que nem o disco novo do Bowie pra quem era adolescente nos anos 80: “O camaleão do rock está de volta”. Rola sempre aquela torcida do “agora vai” – e nunca mais foi.

Mas “Live Forever” é um primor, uma balada com aspiração ao posto de clássico do rock, coisa que os anos 90, até ali, sequer haviam cogitado (minto – tanto o Kurt quanto o Corgan faziam isso, um cheio de culpa e outro cheio de si). Só que no tal artigo eles linkam um vídeo com a demo da música:

Que música frouxa, fuleira – bem o tipo de Oasis que o povo fã de Pearl Jam gosta. Mas tinha um hit aí – e o produtor Owen Morris não deixou barato. O resultado tem a mesma aspiração à eternidade que prega a faixa:

Falando em mashup com Radiohead, o hypômetro dessa semana acusou um Grey Album pra banda do Thom Yorke. Um produtor de alcunha Minty Fresh Beats resolveu fundir os vocais de Jay Z em cima do versões instrumentais de músicas como “Paranoid Android”, “National Anthem”, “Optimistic” e a citada abaixo “Lucifer’s Jigsaw”. Batizou o disco de Jaydiohead e agora ta aí colhendo os louros da fama fugaz na dita blogosfera. Ficou legal, mas, vocês sabem que mashup com hip hop é o mais fácil de fazer (tanto que foram os primeiros) e que um mashup de Beatles com Jay Z (o tal álbum cinza) foi quem colocou o Dangermouse (1/2 Gnarls Barkley, pra quem não lembra) na paisagem pop atual. O lance é que mashup abre tantas possibilidades e neguinho continua insistindo em uma mesma fórmula. Muda ao menos o MC, né… Porque só esse ano outro cara – o Cookin Soul, que também fez uma mixtape em homenagem à passagem do Isaac Hayes -, já tinha feito isso, mashupando Jay Z com Oasis – mas pelo menos aí tinha uma desculpa boa devido ao incidente em Glastonbury…
