YO PAVEMENT IM REAL HAPPY 4U IMMA LET U FINISH

O título desse post é dessa fotomontagem acima, que a Letty mandou, mas é só pra deixar registrado que a volta do Pavement não é apenas oficial, como já tem data(s) marcada(s) - isso, no plural. A princípio aconteceria na noite do dia 21 de setembro de 2010 no Central Park, em Nova York, mas os ingressos acabaram tão rápido que a banda concordou em fazer outros três shows, na seqüência. Assim, a volta do Pavement coincide com o outono americano do ano que vem, nos dias 21, 22, 23 e 24 de setembro. E se você não conseguiu comprar ingresso (porque não viu a notícia em tempo ou porque não consegue se planejar com tanta antecedência pra uma viagem dessas, por exemplo), vale a dica do Dodô - como muita gente também deve ter comprado ingresso na correria de perder o show sem mesmo saber se vai poder ir, é bem provável que muita gente perca - por isso, não perca suas esperanças. Ou comece a torcer pra alguém trazer os caras para o Brasil…

A volta dos anos 90

A torcida é grande e a fila já tá dando volta no quarteirão. Os novos integrantes:

- O Blur voltou oficialmente ontem no show do NME Awards, em Londres, quando Damon e Graham voltaram a tocar juntos pela primeira vez em anos (“This is a Low” em uma versão ótima, apesar do vídeo tosco) - para depois revelar que eles estão repassando todo os discos do Blur, na ordem;

- Quem também voltou aos palcos pela primeira vez em anos, ainda que não oficialmente, foi o Pavement, quando quase toda a banda (menos Scott Kannberg) fez um show no casamento do percussionista Bob Nastanovich sábado passado, em Nashville, nos EUA. No repertório, “Proud Mary”, “What a Fool Believes” e “Love Train”.

-Jerry Seinfeld, quem diria, vai voltar pra TV - provavelmente pra terminar de destruir seu legado. Pelo que foi anunciado, The Marriage Ref é uma mistura de reality show com terapia de casais e convidados (vai um Curb Your Enthusiasm aí?), embora ele negue fortemente que seja. Sei.

- E Liz Phair é a nova garota propaganda da Banana Republic.

É, o boato já rola há um tempo (eu até já havia comentado aqui) e agora o NME começa a cogitar de forma mais séria, com o próprio Scott Kannberg admitindo a volta… Quem vai?

A volta do Pavement

A Matador acabou de lançar uma promoção que reúne os quatro primeiros discos do Pavement, cada um em versão de luxo, por 44 dólares, mas como a banda só tem cinco discos, talvez seja melhor esperar o ano que vem - quando a gravadora relançará o último disco da banda em edição especial (e provavelmente reunirá todos os cinco numa caixa - e com o preço ainda mais em conta [e se é só música que você quer, aqui tem o novo Brighten the Corners]). Tudo anda nos conformes e um relançamento final da banda liderada por Stephen Malkmus culminaria com sua volta aos palcos, embora músicas inéditas sejam pouco prováveis. O próprio Malkmus já andou conversando sobre o assunto, como nessa entrevista pra Spin:

“Pavement was a really hardworking band through the ’90s, so it wouldn’t be surprising if we wanted to revisit that. The option’s open. But the Jicks are so good that there’s not a reason to go back right now.”

Coachella 2010? Já tem gente apostando que o Coachella 2009 vai ter Pavement & Blur. É que a torcida pela volta dos anos 90 tá braba (o Bruno, por exemplo, listou Metallica e Guns - duas bandas dos anos 80 - no balaio dos 90), mas antes ainda vamos ter que passar pela nova dance music (afinal, Jive Bunny era mashup), que inclui a volta do Information Society, e, claro, o revival da lambada, com filme e tudo mais.

Vinte anos, bicho. Leva vinte anos pra essas paradas voltarem, não adianta forçar.
