On the Run 25: Dr. Dre ‘85 Live!

Se a WFMU ainda não está nos seus favoritos - ou de rádio online ou de blog de MP3 -, ela começou setembro dando mais motivo para ser incluída e inaugurou uma seção só de mixtapes - como esta sabatina saturnina aqui deste Sujo. E a seção Mix Machine começou com estilo, desenterrando uma fita lançada em 1985 pelo então jovem mestre Andre Young, que já apavorava a Califórnia como embaixador do electro - muito antes de ele inventar o NWA, o gangsta rap e o hip hop dos anos 90. E o clima aqui passa longe de marra de malaco que estaria atrelada ao futuro de sua carreira. Os beats da fitinha são quadrados e robóticos, os timbres são emborrachados e cheios de efeitos sonoros que lembram o futuro da era Atari, misturados com muita percussão sampleada. Na mistura, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, Debbie Deb e Cybotron convivem com samples de Prince, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, Kraftwerk, LL Cool J, Chic e Chaka Khan, criando uma paisagem ao mesmo tempo apocalíptica e dançante, como se a disco music tivesse sido a última guerra mundial. Só assim pro Robocop dançar - sonzeira.
