Weezer x Lil Wayne

Um dos momentos mais “que porra é essa?” do novo disco do Weezer (que, de novo, é o hit cercado por dezenas de canções insossas), sem dúvida, é sua quarta faixa. A colaboração do grupo com o rapper Lil Wayne, que veio pela conexão com um dos produtores do disco, o guru do R&B Jermaine Dupri - mostrando que o papo que ele cantava em “Pork & Beans” (sobre trabalhar com o Timbaland) não era ironia.

Ele comentou a inusitada parceria numa entrevista à MTV: “Nós adoramos o disco vermleho, mas agora é 2009, é hora de fazer algo completamente diferente. Por isso procurei alguns amigos em gêneros diferentes: Jermaine Dupri, por exemplo, o rei do R&B - escrevi uma música com ele chamada “Can’t Stop Partying”. “Foi um desafio para mim”, continuava, na mesma entrevista, explicando sobre como pegar a contribuição de Dupri “que é uma festa R&B, e dar alguma noção de extremo, alguma escuridão, fazendo-o funcionar com o rock e com o Weezer”.

A colaboracão remete ao disco Weezyer (de subtítulo emblemático - What Lil’ Wayne’s Rock Album Should Sound Like), que o DJ de mashup Mole Star lançou no início deste ano, colidindo o rapper e a banda indie. A improvável conexão neste caso foi estabelecida graças ao apelido de Lil Wayne, Weezy, que deu a idéia para a fusão, responsável por pérolas como essa:

Recém-paulistanizado, o catarina Tiago Agostini ouviu o questionamento acima de uma conterrânea e compilou faixas onipresentes nas pistas de dança de indie rock de São Paulo em dois arquivos. Algumas (como ele mesmo diz “‘Surfin’ Bird’ com os Raimundos”, por exemplo) passam longe do estereótipo, mas no geral a coletânea dá uma boa idéia de como dançam os indies - e, independente de pista, ficou bem boa.

As 50 melhores músicas de 2008: 49) Weezer - “Pork & Beans”

Uma música composta depois de uma reunião com executivos de gravadora - que queriam algo mais comercial da banda - rendeu um hit do Weezer como há muito tempo eles não emplacavam, algo como se “Beverly Hills” fosse uma música do disco azul e não um pastiche de metal farofa. Boas guitarras, ótimo refrão, letra cheia de sacadinhas (”I ain’t gonna wear the clothes that you like/I’m finally dandy with the me inside”, além da referência ao Timbaland) e um clipe feito para ser assistido na nova MTV (o YouTube), a música garantiu um ótimo ano para a banda de Rivers Cuomo, mesmo que o disco cheio (conhecido como o “álbum vermelho“) não chegue aos pés.

Piada repetida - de novo

E por falar em hypes da internete, você já deve ter visto a propaganda dessa operadora de telefone que foi lançada hoje. Se não viu, vai ver - nem vou me dar ao trabalho de linkar aqui, pra você não associar a lembrança da primeira vez que assistiu ao meu pobre saite. Juntaram as celebridades-instantâneas da internet brasileira para fazer uma espécie de “We are the World” do YouTube Brasil - a própria idéia de clonar o “We are the World” já é motivo suficiente para o desprezo. Mas não custa lembrar que essa idéia, de juntar personalidades online, foi o tema do primeiro clipe do Weezer para seu disco novo (que, por sua vez, tirava a idéia de um clipe dos Barenaked Ladies) e que esse mote já foi usado até pelo Fantástico numa matéria ridícula. E quando você acha que o Fantástico é o cemitério das informações - onde elas vão morrer, depois que todo mundo já soube delas -, vem esse bando de publicitário e lança esse engodo. Fico imaginando as reuniões, os comentários, as diversas vezes que o clipe foi feito e refeito. Deprê.
